Louisville Guitar Society
Originally founded in the 1960s, the Louisville Guitar Society is committed to promoting guitar music to people of all cultures, ages, and abilities in the Greater Louisville area. Today the Society maintains its original focus on the classical guitar while broadening the scope to encompass a variety of acoustic and jazz guitar styles. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the Louisville Guitar Society accomplishes its mission by providing concerts, masterclasses, and workshops to its members as well as the general public. Additionally, the LGS endorses an outreach program as one of its primary initiatives in providing access to the arts for all. Working with artistic and corporate partners, the LGS outreach program provides lesson scholarships and free memberships for those who qualify.
The LGS welcomes not only guitar players, but aficionados of the instrument as well. Monthly meetings are held from September through May; providing an artistic and educational forum featuring local, national, and international performers, while creating a social environment for every one of all ages to enjoy.
All auctions support the Louisville Guitar Society and its affiliate programs. Special initiatives include after school guitar program in the Greater Louisville Area and scholarships to the Louisville Guitar Festival. Special funds are being raised in support of the Guitar Foundation of America International Convention, which will be hosted at the University of Louisville School of Music June 18-23, 2018.
